BLACK, BLACKER, BLACKEST.

Here at Longueville Park Alpaca Stud we are dedicated to promoting the value and integrity of the alpaca. We are a full-time breeding facility committed to the alpaca industry. Our particular bias is for blue-black animals bred for quality fibre, conformation and character.

We chose to specialise in black alpacas as we saw them as a niche market. Compared with white and coloured animals true blue-blacks represent a very small percentage of both the world and national herd. While many breeders have followed the sheep industry in the production of an all white herd, we saw the exceptional lustre and the silkier handle of the black fleece as a positive aspect for our herd development.

It also seemed a sensible goal to capitalise on the natural colour of the only true black fleeced animal in the world rather than have to add the extra process of chemical dyeing to the equation. Wool producers have the white fibre industry sewn up so we didn't consider it the best option to produce more white fleece especially at the outset of a fledgling industry.

When considering the end product we perceived black as being the most fashionable of colours, most flattering to wear and always in vogue.

We don't believe alpacas are right for everyone and so we talk with our potential clients and discuss honestly the financial, physical and emotional aspects of owning and caring for these wonderful animals. We are happy to share with our clients and prospective customers our knowledge and experience in order to promote alpacas and the ongoing growth of the industry.

Breeding alpacas is not an exact science and we are constantly striving to improve the quality of our offspring. Managing the farm to run smoothly and efficiently not only makes our job easier, but it provides our clients with an easy to follow management plan they can develop on their own properties.

Our committment is not just to alpacas and the alpaca industry but to our valued clients to whom we are dedicated to provide honesty, education, value, integrity and ongoing support. We began successfully raising and breeding black alpacas in 1997, and plan an ongoing committment to our catch phrase of "black, blacker, blackest" in the years to come.

Our committment and dedication is your assurance of quality and with this we are able to provide:
